The Sofia Philharmonic opens the International Festival "Sofia Music Weeks" on May 24 - the most beautiful Bulgarian holiday, when we celebrate Bulgarian culture, with a concert that puts opera in the spotlight. The program unites selected arias and duets from Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Francesco Cilea, and Pietro Mascagni – composers for whom the human voice is not just an instrument but a bearer of morality and passion. The program represents a meeting of positions: Italian opera as memory, responsibility, and conscious choice. This concert is a collaborative project with the Rayna Kabaivanska School / New Bulgarian University – one of the most significant spaces for forming a new generation of opera in Europe. On stage, singers with international profiles, who have already made their presence known on major stages, will perform: • Vitoria Yeo – soprano • Alexandrina Mihailova – soprano • Baya Saganelidze – mezzo-soprano • Arsen Sogomonian – tenor • Giuseppe Infantino – tenor The Sofia Philharmonic is led by Nayden Todorov, who consistently advocates for meetings between tradition and the present, between established values and new artistic voices. This concert is a statement that classical music does not exist by inertia, that continuity is an active act, and that the future of opera is being built here and now – in front of the audience.
