Description of the visited sites:
Sitovskiy Inscription
The Sitovskiy Inscription (or Sitovskiy Stone) is a mysterious inscription discovered in 1920 near the village of Sitovo, Plovdiv Province, Bulgaria, in the area of the Sitovskiy Pass in the Rhodopes. It is engraved on a rock in a hard-to-reach place and represents a series of signs resembling writing, which, however, have not yet been fully deciphered or recognized as part of any known ancient alphabet.
Discovery: 1920 by soldiers who were clearing a path through the Rhodopes.
Location: On a sheer rock, high in the mountains, above Sitovo.
Type: Engraved stone inscription about 3.4 meters long.
Origin: Unknown - there are theories that it may be Thracian, Phoenician, Pelasgian, or even early Slavic.
Mumjidam Mahala
Mumjidam Mahala is an abandoned settlement nestled in the heart of the Rhodopes, near the village of Tri Mogili in the municipality of Asenovgrad. This place impresses with its authentic atmosphere and beautiful natural views that surround it.
Access to the mahala:
From the village of Tri Mogili: The hike starts from the village of Tri Mogili, which is accessible by a passable road with crushed stone surface. From there, the footpath to Mumjidam is about 1.5 km long and takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The path is well-formed and marked with blue markings.
Bloody Lake
Bloody Lake (also known as Red Lake) is located about 1 km from the village of Elshitsa, in the municipality of Panagyurishte, Bulgaria. Its name comes from the characteristic dark red color of the water, which attracts the attention of tourists and lovers of unusual natural phenomena.
