Ivo Pogorelich and Nayden Todorov

The legend Ivo Pogorelich returns to Sofia for a concert with the Sofia Philharmonic under the direction of Nayden Todorov. The collaboration with this great artist is characterized by consistency and mutual trust, built on a clear artistic vision and a rejection of routine solutions.

The concert brings together two works of different origins and aesthetics, united by strong compositional thought and a quest for depth and meaning in interpretation:

Piano Concerto No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff – a piece created after a severe personal crisis of the composer and has become one of the symbols of the romantic concert tradition. Pogorelich's interpretations of this landmark work are known for their unconventional perspective, with sharpened attention to form, tempo, and the inner logic of the music, far from established templates.

Symphony No. 2 "Great Preslav" by Vesselin Stoyanov – a large-scale work from Bulgarian symphonic classics. The symphony interprets the historical theme not descriptively, but through richly developed musical dramaturgy and a dense orchestral fabric, where the national context transforms into a universal musical expression.

With this concert, Nayden Todorov continues the principle of bringing the orchestra and the audience together with great artists and music that offers a new interpretation, rather than a mechanical repetition of tradition.
