About this event

Art Point Gallery presents:
“After the Image”
Curator Maria Markova (Masleva)

An image is never only what we see. There is a distance between the visible and its perception. Within it, reality loses its certainty, form is freed from the object, and color begins to speak for itself. “After the Image” enters this uncertain territory not to explain, but to leave room for questions. Eight artists arrive there by different paths. In Lyuben Genov’s work, gesture and color construct an autonomous reality. For Nikola Enev, the horizon is not a boundary but an exploration of space. For Rumen Rachev, the abstract landscape is movement and gesture. For Nina Ruseva, the visible remains as a memory or trace. Ivaylo Lekov searches for an inner architecture of space. In Deyan Valkov’s work, matter remembers and erases at the same time. For Maria Masleva, reality passes through rhythm and color, while in Maria Raycheva’s work, what is seen is refracted through memory. What connects them is not a style, but the doubt that the visible exhausts reality. Abstraction begins where the artist stops bearing witness and begins to search. In a world of super-images, painting offers the opposite: an image before which we must remain long enough to move beyond the first seeing. Because perhaps what matters is not what the image shows us, but what begins after it.
