The Listening Room is a monthly songwriter night in Melbourne designed around one simple idea: music deserves attention.
Hosted at Nighthawks, it offers a stripped-back, distraction-free environment where original songs are heard properly - by both the room and the performer.
This isn’t a typical open mic.
The Listening Room prioritises
listening, presence, and respect
. There’s no background chatter, no competing noise, and no pressure to perform beyond what the song requires.
For artists, it’s a chance to share work (new or in progress) with an attentive audience.
For listeners, it’s an opportunity to engage closely with original music in an intimate setting.
